Fees are based on the type of business, the number of employees and the location of the business.

Payment

We appreciate you doing business with the City of Hemet! For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, check, cash, cashiers check or money orders. If you would like to pay via credit card for your business license and are not able to come into the office, please complete the Credit Card Authorization (PDF) form and fax it to 951-765-2336.

Additional Forms

Home-based businesses
For those businesses that are home-based and the home resides within the City of Hemet city limits, the Planning Department requires a Home Occupation Permit. The completed form along with the business license application needs to be review and approved by the Planning Department which is located at City Hall, 445 E. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA 92543 or (951) 765-2375

Commercial businesses
For businesses that are commercial and exist with the City of Hemet city limits, the Building Department requires a Certificate of Occupancy. This form must be obtained from the Building Department which is located at City Hall, 445 E. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA 92543 or (951) 765-2475. 

Expiration & Renewal of License

All city business licenses are valid for a calendar year and expire on December 31st of each year. Licenses must be renewed each year, failure to renew will result in penalties. 

Processing

Your completed application and applicable fees must be received by the Business License Department before your license will be issued. Once all city requirements have been met and your license is paid for, you will receive a license number and your license will be mailed to you.

Change or Transfer of Ownership

A license is issued to a specific owner, a change in ownership requires a new license. Licenses are approved for a specific location and any move will require a new application and review by appropriate city departments.
