A Hemet man and a juvenile are in custody today for numerous charges. They are believed to be responsible for at least three residential burglaries in south east Hemet today.
At about 6:27 am this morning, the City of Hemet Police Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call from an 89 year old victim in the 600 block of Buena Vista Pkwy. The victim reported that she woke up and discovered that two suspects had broken into her home, stolen some of her jewelry and fled the scene in her vehicle. The victim was able to provide officers with a description of the suspects and of the stolen vehicle. Thankfully, the victim was not injured.
At about 6:43 am, a Hemet police officer spotted the victim’s vehicle in the 300 block of W. Whittier Ave. The vehicle was stopped and three occupants were detained for further investigation. Two of the occupants were in possession of stolen property from the burglary on Buena Vista Pkwy and several firearms were located inside the vehicle. There was also a game console and a backpack containing a large amount of loose change inside the vehicle, both believed to have been stolen.
As the investigation continued, it was discovered that some of the property found in the vehicle had been stolen from a home in the 800 block of S. Harvard St. and that some of it had been stolen from a home in the 400 block of Val Verde Dr. Evidence linked the driver of the vehicle (a juvenile) and one of the passengers (Nicklaus Marasco) to the burglaries. The third occupant of the vehicle was released.
The investigation is ongoing. Marasco was transferred to County Jail and the juvenile was transferred to juvenile hall. The juvenile’s information is being withheld.
