On 12/08/13 at 3:56 am, Hemet Police K-9 Officer Matt Gomez was on patrol in the 600 block of S. State Street when he observed a white Ford Mustang driving erratically. K-9 Officer M. Gomez initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 100 block of Montrose Avenue.
The driver, Sergio Palacios, exited the vehicle. As Gomez started to approach the man, Hemet Police Dispatchers advised the Mustang was a reported stolen vehicle from Los Angeles County. Sergio Palacios was immediately taken into custody without incident.
Palacios was also on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
"Officers usually don't know who they are pulling over." HPD Captain Rob Webb said. "With more and more criminals being released into our communities, no traffic stop is 'routine'. I'm glad it worked out; nobody was injured, the vehicle is going back to the rightful owner, and Mr. Palacios is headed back to jail."
Arrested:
Sergio Palacios- 26 years old from South El Monte, CA.
Charges:
Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Post Release Supervision Revocation.
