[ARCHIVED] HPD Sends Armed Robbery Suspect to Jail

Hemet Police Arrest Roland Goseyun Robbery Suspect Carjacking

Hemet Police Arrest Man Suspected in Three Robberies

On 09/10/2013 at about 8:50 pm, the City of Hemet Police Dispatch Center received a call of an attempted ‘car-jacking’ that had just occurred in the parking lot near Wal-Mart in the 1200 block of S. Sanderson Ave. The victim was able to call the police within a minute of the crime and was able to provide a good description of the suspect. The victim also advised that the suspect was armed with a handgun.

Two Hemet Police Officers were nearby and saw a suspect that matched the description running through the parking lot as they arrived. The suspect continued running west bound through the lot, jumping over a wall that separates the shopping center from a nearby neighborhood. The officers set up a perimeter and additional officers including members of the Gang Task Force (GTF) and Post release Accountability and Corrections Team (PACT), converged on the area. A yard to yard search was conducted and the suspect was located hiding in some bushes in the 1200 block of Manassas. The suspect struggled with the officers but was ultimately taken into custody. The handgun was located and was discovered to be a replica firearm.

Further investigation revealed that before the suspect attempted to steal the car, he had attempted to rob the Dollar Tree store in the same shopping center. During that incident, the suspect brandished the weapon, demanded money and threatened to shoot the cashier and customers if they did not comply. As the suspect fled from that scene, he stole the cellular phone of one of the customers who was attempting to call the police.

The suspect was positively identified by several of victims and the stolen cellular phone was recovered. Chief of Police Dave Brown said, “This is what these punks should expect trying to rob someone in Hemet...The good citizens and the police work together here and this is another example of how that cooperation gets another bad guy off the streets.”

Arrested:
Roland Goseyun, 19 year old resident of the unincorporated portion of Hemet.

Charges:
Car-Jacking, Criminal Threats, Burglary, Robbery, and Attempted Robbery.
