On 07/02/13 at 1:41am, Hemet Police Officer Daniel Caballero attempted to stop a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. After Caballero activated his emergency lights, the vehicle failed to immediately yield and the appeared to be looking for a particular street as it slowed at each cross street it passed.
The vehicle then turned into the 4600 block of Butterfield Way in Hemet and stopped at the end of the cul-de-sac. After assisting officers arrived, Officer Caballero contacted the driver, Alex Aguayo, who had a felony warrant for his arrest. Aguayo was subsequently arrested for the probation violation warrant. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of an unregistered loaded firearm. The firearm was within Aguayo’s proximity where he could have accessed it at any time.
Aguayo was later booked into the Riverside County Jail for the following charges:
Felony Warrant
Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle
Felon in Possession of Ammunition
Aguayo is 39 years old and a resident of Hemet.
