[ARCHIVED] Motorcycle Rider Suffers Severe Injury Following Collision

Hemet Police mc crash

On 12/12/12 at about 5:07pm, Hemet Police Dispatch received a call of a traffic collision in the area of State Street and Devonshire Avenue. Hemet Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded and discovered that a motorcyclist was severely injured. It was determined that the motorcyclist needed to be transported to the hospital via Mercy Air.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcycle was driving N/B on State St, approaching Devonshire Ave. A van was driving S/B on State St., stopped in the intersection, waiting to turn left onto E/B Devonshire Ave.

The signal began to cycle to red and witnesses reported hearing the motorcycle downshift and accelerate into the intersection after the signal turned red. At about the same time, the van began making a left turn and was struck by the motorcycle in a broadside collision.

The motorcycle rider was thrown and struck a vehicle parked in a nearby parking lot.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact Hemet PD Traffic Bureau at 951 765-2400.
